What to expect when we come and how to prepare

Here is what you can expect and a few ways you can help prepare, in order to make it as soothe as possible on the day:

Before we come:

  • Favorite food and toys: have a selection of your dogs special treats, favorite foods and comforting items to hand
  • Sleeping space: Pick your dog preferred sleeping spot or a quiet area in the house/ garden where they most feel comfortable.
  • Talk to family: Tell family members who would like to be present about when and where it is happening.

During the euthanasia:

  • Arrival: We will arrive at the time arranged and will talk through the procedure, answering any questions along the way. There will be a small form to sign once we have had our chat.
  • Sedation: Your dog will then normally receive a small sedation to help make them comfortable and gently fall asleep.
  • Time: There will be time for everyone to give kisses and say their goodbyes to your dog before the final injection if given.

After the euthanasia:

  • Aftercare: If we haven’t done already, we will have a discussion about what aftercare options are wanted, such as cremation and burial options.
  • Support advice: We can advise on any support needed afterwards and point you in any necessary direction.

We believe by having a little understanding on what to expect, it helps with preparing for whats to come, so you can focus solely on saying goodbye to your beloved family member when the time comes.
